Your Photo on Foam Board

A lightweight but rigid panel made of PVC foam. It doesn't bend and is considerably lighter than aluminium Dibond or acrylic glass.

Foam board is especially lightweight, while aluminium Dibond is even more robust and looks a little more premium thanks to its aluminium surface. Both are well suited to living spaces. You can see the prices for each size above under the formats.

A wall mount is included. Because the board is so light, a nail or a screw is usually all you need.

For living spaces, offices and practices, but also for trade fairs, exhibitions or parties – anywhere a sturdy, lightweight and affordable picture is needed.

A 5 mm thick foam board weighs about 2.5 to 3 kg per square meter. So a picture in 60 × 40 cm format weighs roughly 600 to 700 g. That makes it a good fit for drywall partitions or for rented apartments where you'd rather not drill big holes.

It's best to dust the surface with a feather duster or a soft, dry microfiber cloth, as foam board can easily build up static. For stains, a slightly damp cloth with a little mild dish soap is enough. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvent-based glass cleaners and hard rubbing.

PVC foam can only withstand temperatures of up to about 55 °C over the long term. Directly above a radiator, by a fireplace or behind a south-facing window in bright sunshine, the board can therefore warp. Better to pick a wall without a direct heat source – that also protects the colors, because strong sunlight makes any photo print fade over time.

PVC foam absorbs hardly any water, but a photo print on it is intended as wall art for indoor spaces. Avoid constant moisture, splashing water and direct exposure to the weather – it isn't made for outdoor use.

Foam board looks flat, smooth and modern, and the photo appears pin-sharp. A canvas has a textile texture, feels cozier and looks more three-dimensional thanks to the depth of the wooden frame. For graphic motifs, collages with many small photos or text, foam board is ideal; for landscapes and portraits with a painterly feel, canvas is the better pick.
